While walking the pup each morning, I often come up with ideas for editorials or blogs. Here’s one I thought of the other morning as my ear muffs, which have “nifty” plastic recoils that roll the muffs into a ball when you take them off, was slowly pulling the warm muffs off my ears as I walked. (Note: These recoils are annoying rather than useful.)

That reminded me of the email I got at work from one of those spam marketers we can’t seem to get rid of. This one promoted the Lint Lizard, which “attaches to any vacuum hose and cleans deep into any dryer. Clear out all the lint that gets past your lint screen and unclog your dryer to make it work less and run more efficiently.”

I considered this ad because a dryer apparently started a fire that chased a Janesville family from its home just before Christmas. Maybe this Lint Lizard would help prevent a dryer lint fire, I thought.

“As seen on TV,” the ad touted. Well, I thought, that’s a ringing endorsement.
