Odd things that alarm my pets
It's perhaps the scariest week of the year for pets. Some cats and dogs get so anxious about the noise of fireworks, they run away from home; others cower indoors. It's a serious issue, keeping pets indoors and safe on these firework evenings, but it did make me think about some of the odd and non-serious things that can make one or other of my pets freak out.
Footbridges: This is an anxiety of Phoebe's. When we're out for a walk and have to cross a slatted footbridge over water, Phoebe doesn't want to go. Or she crosses gingerly, eyeing the drop through each gap between the planks. Or maybe she's just concerned about marrying a rat.
Rain on a skylight: Not an issue in our current house, but at our previous home, the sound of rain hitting the (expensive, quality) plastic of the skylights was enough to propel him under a chair or bed, not to emerge till the rain stopped.
